FAQ

Q: What is the purpose of this blog?

A: To rant, ramble, discuss, eulogise, expostulate and opine about the practitioners of, my reaction to, trends within, historical and sociological mumblings on, music.

Q: Who are you, and why are you presuming authority about music?

A: I haven’t any authority, bar a single course at university entitled Music and History, about a decade of listening and thinking and reading, and a passion to write about music. For a detailed ‘about me’, click here for the relevant page on A Lachrymal Cloud.

Q: Can I contact you?

A: Of course. Email me at cecilpitt@googlemail.com, an email address set up specifically to deal with the adoration, hate, flames, abuse, gushing agreement, deranged anger and job offers that this site will inevitably bring.

Q: How seriously can you be taken?

A: Everything I write is an opinion, and nothing is based on fact, unless I can actually verify it, or at least link to my sources. If at all possible, I shall reference where I get my information from. If a point isn’t referenced, it’s either a generic thing like “psychedelia happened in the 60s” or really basic stuff like “John Bonham was the drummer for Led Zeppelin”; also, if a point isn’t referenced, then please recognise that it’s either hearsay, stuff I recall floating around grapevines and rumour mills and can find no justification for, but sounds cool, or I have thought up myself from listening and observing.

Q: How regularly will you post?

A: Whenever I feel like writing a ‘think-piece’ about something musical, that’s when I’ll post.
